Mr. Jun Sawada, Executive Chairman of NTT, Inc. and Chair of the Committee on National Space Policy, visited the Institute of Astronomy. At the large laboratory building, Prof. Kotaro Kohno, Director of the institute, gave an overview of the TAO project. Subsequently, the instruments to be installed on the TAO telescope were introduced, with MIMIZUKU (Mid-Infrared Multi-field Imager for gaZing at the UnKnown Universe) presented by Prof. Takashi Miyata, Director of the Atacama Observatory, and SWIMS (Simultaneous-color Wide-field Infrared Multi-object Spectrograph) presented by Prof. Kentaro Motohara. In addition, views were exchanged on future instrument development plans, providing a valuable opportunity to share the progress of the research and its prospects.
