Flexure test for observation instrument was conducted using Telescope simulator.
Flexure test for observation instrumentIn a laboratory building located at the north side of the main building of IoA, there are various equipments for evaluating performance of observation instruments for TAO. A telescope simulator, one of the equipments installed in a laboratory, was used to measure instrumental flexure of the near-infrared instrument SWIMS. more>>

Flexure test for observation instrumentThe exhibitions and lectures of the TAO project were held at Ito International Research Center, UTokyo. In addition to the movies on LCD screen and the panel presentations about TAO project, the astronomical lectures relating southern sky, live broadcast with TAO members working in Atacama, and VR event as if visitors were in Co. Won the Gold Medal of the School of Science Image Contest 2012!
On Aug 7, 2012, "the School of Science Image Contest 2012" was held during the School's open campus event at UTokyo. As a result of voting by visitors as well as staff and others affiliated with the University, "Starry sky of Oasis", photographed at the Base Facility by Assistant Professor Minezaki, won the Gold Medal. The TAO member's gold medal winning is a third achievement!

Examining Galaxy Form from the Top of the World (pressreleased: 2012/7/31)
Forming galaxies, usually called starburst galaxies, are known to emit strong infrared rays associated star formation, but detail is hidden by thick dust clouds produced at the same time. A Lecture by the President of the Republic of Chile was held at the University of Tokyo, Yayoi Auditorium, Ichijo Hall on March 28th, 2012.
