TAO member participated in the international conference “SPIE Astronomical
Instrumentation 2008” held in Marseilles, France on July 23-28, 2008, and made
eight presentations including the overview of the miniTAO 1m telescope, the weather
conditions of the site, and the instruments of the telescope as followings.

- The University of Tokyo Atacama 1.0-m telescope
Reviewed the details of the Tokyo Atacama 1.0-m telescope (miniTAO) (Shigeyuki Sako)
- Site evaluations of the summit of Co. Chajnantor for infrared observations
Reported the weather conditions of the Chajnantor site (Takashi Miyata)
- Seeing environment at a 5640m altitude of Co. Chajnantor in northern Chile
Reported the results of seeing measurements at the Chajnantor site(Kentaro Motohara)
- ANIR: Atacama Near Infrared Camera for Paschen αImaging
Reported the near infrared camera ANIR for miniTAO 1m telescope (Kentaro Motohara)
- A new mid-infrared camera for ground-based 30 micron observations: MAX38
Reported the mid infrared camera MAX38 for the miniTAO 1m telescope (Takashi Miyata)
- Cold chopper system for mid-infrared instruments
Reported the development of the cold chopping mirror installed in the MAX38 (Tomohiko Nakamura)
- Developing metal mesh filters for mid-infrared astronomy of 25 to 40 micron
Reported the development of multi layered metal mesh filters optimized for 25 to 40 micron (Shigeyuki Sako)
- Developing infrared array controller with software real time operating system
Reported the newly developed array control system with real time OS (Shigeyuki Sako)
