As a 2nd generation instrument of the TAO 6.5 m telescope, we began a
preliminary design of an optical imager/spectrograph optimized for the
U band.
On July 15, 2014, a mini workshop on science cases at 300-400 nm

Kitagawa and Okada, who belong to the Department of Astronomy, Graduate School of Science, UTokyo, submitted master's theses related to the development of the instruments "SWIMS" and "MIMIZUKU" for the TAO 6.5 m telescope, and received master's degrees in Mar 2014. The instruments are under development, and will be installed in the TAO 6.5 m telescope.
