Borosilicate glass used for the primary mirror of the TAO telescope and a model of the TAO telescope are now on display in the Science Gallery
In the Science Gallery of the Graduate School of Science and Faculty of Science, the University of Tokyo (located in Building 1 of the Faculty of Science, Hongo Campus), we started the exhibition of borosilicate glass (E6 by OHARA Inc.) used for the primary mirror of the 6.5-meter aperture TAO telescope and a model of the TAO telescope. This exhibition is currently scheduled on display for approximately two years, until around February 2027. Please visit the gallery to see it.

The highlight of this exhibition is a piece of borosilicate glass gifted by the University of Arizona, which commissioned the design and production of the primary mirror. To celebrate the TAO telescope site completion ceremony, the surface of each piece of glass on display is engraved with the TAO project logo and the date of the ceremony, "April 30, 2024". The gift is accompanied by the following message card.
A model of the TAO telescope is also on display. Please take a look at that as well.
