1st mini-TAO workshop was held

Four years have passed since the first light of the mini-TAO 1.0-m telescope. Many scientific results using the telescope have been reported in various fields: distant and nearby galaxies, galactic evolution, star-forming regions, supernova surveys, solar system satellites and researches on the earth's atmosphere. Hence, "the 1st mini-TAO workshop" was held on March 14-15, 2013 at the Institute of Astronomy, the University of Tokyo. In this workshop, in addition to the talks on the research results obtained by ANIR and MAX38, the instruments on the mini-TAO telescope, future observation plans were also reported. This means that there are many demands for sustaining operations of the telescope. Furthermore, as it is also the timing to accelerate the TAO 6.5-m telescope project, we felt high expectations for the TAO project itself. A total of 31 people participated from all over the country, including speakers and auditors (including participation via teleconference).
