What is UltraSTAR?
UltraSTAR is an abribiation of
"Unix and/or Linux based software Tools for Radio Astronomy;
STream processing in Astronomy data Reduction package",
which can be used for data reduction in radio astronomy.
At present the package includes data reduction for line observations.
UltraSTAR can directly read NEWSTAR profile FITS datasets,
which are the standard format in Nobeyama Radio Observatory.
UltraSTAR is composed from independent commands.
You can remove/delete some commands if you never use.
You can add new commands by yourself if you use a standard I/O library in the
fullset of UltarSTAR.
Please contact us if you try to make a new command.
Completed commands can be entried in the coming version.
With which machine can be used?
You can run UltraSTAR on some major workstations and Linux PC
To make and run UltraSTAR require X11 and Motif (or its compatible library
such as lesstif), and Pxp, which is an X11/Postscript (only to make).
q±Žee here about Pxp.)
We have already confirmed on NEWS-OS4.2R, NEWS-OS4.2C,
Solaris2.0+Motif1.2, Linux2.0.x+lesstif0.86.5.
Also Mac-OS X (including IntelMac).

We are sorry but in the directories lib and src
binary files for Linux.
Although you may use in your Linux system just setting your command path
to the bin,
we recommend to remove these binary files to avoid some troubles.
A standard procedure to install is following:
cd lib
./configure
make clean
make
cd ../src
./configure
make clean
make
make install
However, you should read Readme.html in the extended point like
~/star/Readme_e.html
The default installation target is /usr/local/star.
When you do not have a right to write in the directory,
please make install by root or use sudo command.
If you want to change it,
you should attach the target directory after ./configure at src directory.
Examples:
- cd ../src; ./configure ..
- to install in the parent directory of current one (../bin)
- cd ../src; ./configure ~/star
- to install under star in your home directory
Description about the lates version is shown here.
Quick instruction for installation is shown here.
The set may contain some commands with bugs. Please read
bug.txt in your installation set.
